Oscar Bowman Becomes Underline’s Political Editor

August 2, 2026

Oscar Bowman has become Underline’s Political Editor.

Oscar recently graduated from the University of Nottingham with a degree in Politics and International Relations and has joined Underline as he begins a career in political journalism. He’s interested in political ideas, but just as much in the people behind them and the beliefs that influence how we think about politics.

Since joining Underline, Oscar has published two in-depth pieces on the future of British politics.

His first article, Keir Starmer: A Political Obituary, looked at Starmer’s time in office and the political legacy he leaves behind. He followed that with Andy Burnham: A New Dawn?, asking whether Labour’s new leader offers a genuine change of direction for the party.

Those early pieces showed a thoughtful approach to political writing and made Oscar a natural fit for the role. As Political Editor, he’ll continue writing about British politics while helping to develop Underline’s political coverage as the publication grows.

We’re looking forward to publishing more of his work in the months ahead.
