Copyright and Takedown Policy

Underline respects the intellectual property rights of creators and copyright holders. We publish original work from a range of independent contributors and expect contributors to only submit material they have created themselves or have the necessary rights or permission to use.

We take concerns about copyright seriously and will investigate credible reports of potentially unauthorised material promptly.

Reporting a copyright concern

If you believe that material published on Underline infringes copyright that you own or are authorised to represent, please contact us through our Contact page and provide as much of the following information as possible:

  • Your name and contact details.
  • Details of the copyrighted work concerned.
  • The URL of the page on Underline where the material appears.
  • Details of the material you believe infringes your rights.
  • Information showing that you are the copyright holder or are authorised to act on their behalf.
  • Any other information that may help us understand and assess your claim.

What happens next

We will review copyright concerns as promptly as reasonably possible.

Where appropriate, we may temporarily remove or restrict access to material while a claim is being investigated. We may also contact the contributor who supplied the material to establish its origin, ownership or licensing status.

Where we determine that material should not be published by Underline, we will remove it from the site.

If further information is required to assess a claim, we may contact the person making the report before taking further action.

Contributors

Contributors are responsible for ensuring that material they submit to Underline is their own original work or that they have the necessary permission, licence or other rights for it to be published.

This includes photographs, illustrations, artwork, film or television stills and other third-party material supplied alongside written work.

Where third-party material is submitted with permission or under a licence, contributors should provide details of its source and any relevant licence, permission or attribution requirements.

Mistakes and corrections

Underline is an independent publication working with a growing community of contributors. While we take reasonable steps to respect copyright and establish the provenance of material we publish, mistakes can occur.

If you believe we have published your work without appropriate permission, please contact us. We want legitimate copyright concerns to be brought to our attention so that they can be investigated and resolved promptly.
