The Kate: One Month at Sea
The Kate is one of the Palestine Flotilla boats that set sail for Gaza. They left a month ago today and continue their journey towards Gaza. Speit, a spoken word and hip-hop artist, talked about how his half-Palestinian, half-Irish heritage gave him a sense of duty to stand up to Israel. Dr Ang Swee Chai, who has made the journey before, shared her experiences of previous trips, as well as her views on how Palestinian people have been wronged and dehumanised by the media.
With Jacob Liney behind the camera, we documented The Kate before its departure. The boat aims to return to Bristol by October, when we plan to interview the crew about their experiences and continue work on a documentary covering their journey.
